Book Blogger Confessions is a new bi-weekly meme hosted by Tiger @ All Consuming Books and Karen @ For What it's Worth Reviews.
Deadlines for reviewing and blogging. Do you set them? How do you keep them? What do you do if you can't meet a deadline?
Referring to Scribing Shadows: For review books I have set myself a 30 day deadline but like all deadlines I have never always met them and of course felt guilty about it. Now I’m not even taking requests because I know I have no time for them. As for deadlines outside of requests I have given up doing that because I know something will come up, I will procrastinate. I will get distracted and not meet it, which is why my blog posting is so inconsistent. I took a break in January however to get over a blogging slump and to actually schedule posts a month in advance so we will see how long that lasts :).
Good luck getting over your slump! I try to schedule my posts a week in advance so if I have a crazy week and don't have time for reading/blogging I don't have a huge lag in posts (that happened to me in November/December).

I had to stop taking requests too. I have way too many books on my plate and not enough time to read them all - and those are books I paid good money for!
ReplyDeleteHope that you get over your slump and I have stopped taking requests too. I have been though that too.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the requests are the thing that bog most of us down. I only take two or three publisher requests at a time now & even that is a rare occurrence and very few direct from the author requests.
ReplyDeleteIt has helped me a lot but I feel horrible saying no.
I only take a few requests at a time -- I once overdid it and got completely overwhelmed. Now, I just try to find a balance, and that seems to work well.
