If you have checked out the previous Stumble Upon Songs posts you might have guessed that I have a thing for sombre songs or ballads. I love high energy pop/rock/alternative music, I am often blasting them in my car in the morning or on the way home but I can also go on for hours listening to softer deeper songs that just help me keep calm and carry on ;).

Still by Daughter
First heard while watching a fanvideo for a favorite pairing of mine from one of my favorite TV shows - Once Upon a Time

The Lightning Strike by Snow Patrol
Snow Patrol is one of my favourite bands and when I heard this song playing during the trailer for the 2013 animated movie Epic I instantly loved it, but you know I didn't realize that the song was being sung by Snow Patrol (fail on my part). But I was so happy when I found out that it was them.

The A Team by Ed Sheeran
This one was actually just discovered through the radio, haha.

Agnes Obel by Avenue
Her song Riverside was used in another Once Upon a Time fanvideo and I loved it so much I looked up a few of her other songs.

Found through tumblr after the airing of the episode Game of Thrones episode Rains of Castermere or as fans of the epic book series A Song of Ice and Fire call it The Red Wedding episode. It's a beautiful song but heart breaking if you are a fan of the show.

A semi-oldie but a favourite that I have been re-listening to a lot lately. This song puts me in a good mood even at work where I am surrounded by different shades of greys and browns and doing a job I do not love. If you are in need of a mood lifter maybe it will help you out.

Edit: Looks like this vid won't play one the blog but you can click the link and see it on youtube.

I haven't done this post in a while and that's because I'm not a big audiophile, you'll notice by now that most of my song choices come from book playlists or movie soundtracks. So I am open to all recommendations!

"9 Crimes" by Damien Rice
Discovered on Kathleen Peacock's blog this is one of the song's from the playlist of book 2 of the Hemlock trilogy. Werewolves people werewolves!

Gone by Ioanna Gika
From the official movie soundtrack of Snow White and the Huntsman. Go here to read my review.

Noble Maiden Fair (A Mhaighdean Bhan Uasal)
From the official movie soundtrack of Brave. Great movie, go here to read Kitten's review.

Before the WildFire Writing team allows March to end here are some songs for you to listen to.

I Remain by Alanis Morrisette

If you've seen the movie Prince of Persia - Sands of Time then you might remember this song from the ending credits.

Raising Today by Peasant

This wouldn't be the first time I've discovered a lovely song from the television series Bones. I re-watched an older episode the other day and noticed this song for the first time. Other lovely songs I have discovered on Bones would be Heartbeats by José González and Bring on the Wonder by Susan Enan featuring Sarah McLachlan.

The Golden Floor by Snow Patrol

So far I have loved everything I have heard by Snow Patrol and the sad thing is I only own a handful of their songs. This song unlike the other songs I've heard by them didn't have me instantly loving it. It actually took me listening to this on repeat and paying attention to the lyrics before I could truly appreciate it. Discovered on the play-list for Maggie Stiefvater's Linger

Have you discovered any favourite songs lately? Share them with us! Also check out the songs on our music player in the sidebar.

Reeshe and I have been meaning to incorporate music into the blog (a playlist of some kind shall be gracing our sidebar soon) and recently we've both discovered a few songs we think are too great not to share.

I can't find the video anymore on youtube (it's been removed)  but the link will lead you to the song at TrackCity where you can still listen to it.

Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift featuring The Civil Wars

Both of the above songs are apart of The Hunger Games soundtrack

So Cold by Nikisha Reyes-Pile and Ben Cocks

Discovered when I watched this fantastic fanmade video for The Hunger Games.

Underlined by Crossbreed

Discovered by Reeshe, she liked that it had the impression of hard rock without being extremely so.

Tell us what you think of these songs in the comments and if you've stumbled upon any great songs recently, share them with us!
